Egypt is expanding telemedicine services following a meeting between Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar and partners including Novartis and TeleMed. The discussions focused on digital upgrades to improve access to specialised care nationwide.
Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar met with representatives from the Specialized Medical Councils, Novartis and TeleMed to advance remote consultations and digital healthcare. The Health Ministry stated the talks addressed expanding services and easing access for remote and border areas.
Abdel Ghaffar described modernisation and digital transformation as national priorities. He noted that expanded telemedicine would cut travel needs and reduce financial and logistical burdens for patients seeking specialist care.
Spokesperson Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said officials reviewed plans to upgrade infrastructure and networks while streamlining procedures and adding patient satisfaction monitoring. The group also considered home healthcare teams for older adults and people with disabilities.
Participants agreed to strengthen cooperation on digital healthcare development to raise quality, accessibility and efficiency across Egypt.
