A Florida man who drove a golf cart while intoxicated, leading to his wife's fatal fall, was sentenced to probation. St. Johns County Circuit Judge Casey L. Woolsey imposed 364 days of probation and a six-month driver's license suspension on Angelo Theodosiou after he pleaded no contest to DUI. The incident occurred last November in St. Johns County.
Angelo Theodosiou, 64, appeared before Judge Casey L. Woolsey on Tuesday for the crash that killed his 58-year-old wife, Christina Theodosiou. The accident happened at around 10:45 p.m. on November 30, 2025, when Christina fell from the golf cart, struck her head, and was airlifted to Jacksonville Memorial Trauma Hospital with a Glasgow score of 3. Authorities determined Theodosiou was at fault, noting his bloodshot eyes, reddened sclera, and a strong odor of alcohol detectable from three feet away in an open area. He refused field sobriety tests and a breath sample despite initially agreeing to provide one at St. Johns County Jail. Theodosiou pleaded no contest to driving under the influence, prompting prosecutors to drop a charge for refusing DUI testing. The judge suspended his driver's license for six months alongside the probation term. Theodosiou's attorney, L. Lee Lockett, described his client as heartbroken, distraught, and depressed, while insisting he was not impaired at the time. Family members stood by him following the incident. Neighbors in the area, where golf carts are common, expressed concerns about safety. Christopher Barnes, who saw the aftermath, said it felt like only a matter of time before an accident at the intersection. Yariela Farkas added, 'You shouldn't be drinking and driving. It's still a vehicle, and it's still dangerous.'
