Polish developer 11 Bit Studios announced that the Frostpunk series has surpassed 11 million sales across its first two games. The update includes details on upcoming DLC for Frostpunk 2 and a remake of the original title. Frostpunk 2 game director Łukasz Juszczyk described the milestone as unreal.
11 Bit Studios revealed that Frostpunk and Frostpunk 2 have collectively sold 11 million copies. The announcement came in a franchise update video, where Frostpunk 2 game director Łukasz Juszczyk said, “Seeing 11m brave the frost: it's just unreal.” Juszczyk, who worked as an artist on the original Frostpunk released in 2018, noted that the series' success exceeded expectations. Frostpunk 2 launched in 2024. The video provided a first look at Frostpunk 2's upcoming DLC, Breach of Trust, set for release on June 23. The expansion features a volcanic eruption that transforms heat—a key resource—into a destructive force, with rivers of lava threatening cities. Juszczyk stated, “What you just saw changes everything. In Breach of Trust, the heat is no longer your salvation: it might just be your downfall.” The DLC promises an evocative story, massive scenario, and fresh mechanics, with playtests available now. A larger Surge DLC is also in development. Frostpunk 1886, a remake of the first game, goes beyond an Unreal Engine update to include a new Purpose upgrade path emphasizing community strength, a close-up perspective, wider city views, and new explorable areas. Game director Maciej Sułecki said, “We want Frostpunk 1886 to be the definitive experience of the game that started it all.” 11 Bit Studios also confirmed a Nintendo Switch port for Frostpunk 1, though no release date was given. Additional announcements include a Frostpunk comic by Rocketship, written by Justin Jordan and illustrated by Ryan Benjamin, and a live-action role-playing event held in Poland.
