Future Islands announce North Carolina tour dates

Future Islands have announced an eight-show tour across North Carolina, billed as a hometown jaunt, culminating in Baltimore. The Fountain of Youth Tour pairs the band with local support acts and coincides with a new rarities compilation. Dates begin May 15 in Wilmington.

Future Islands, the Baltimore-via-Greenville trio fronted by Samuel Herring, revealed plans for the Fountain of Youth Tour. The eight-date run starts with two nights at Greenfield Lake Amphitheater in Wilmington, North Carolina, on May 15 and 16. It continues at Cat’s Cradle in Carrboro on May 18, 19, and 20, followed by two shows at The Orange Peel in Asheville on May 22 and 23, a Greenville stop at State Theater on May 26, and a finale at Pier Six Pavilion in Baltimore on May 28, as first reported by Pitchfork on March 30. Support acts include Lonnie Walker, Valient Thorr, Jenny Besetzt, Ear Pwr, Dan Deacon, and Ed Schrader’s Music Beat, with the latter two joining for the closing show. The tour supports the band's upcoming compilation album, From a Hole in the Floor to a Fountain of Youth, set for release on May 22 via 4AD in digital, CD, and double-LP formats. Bassist William Cashion described the record in press materials as “This is for everyone who has carried these songs with them, from the first house parties to the rooms we’re playing today.”
