Giant woman sculpture at Uppsala Cathedral stands 230 centimeters tall

A 230-centimeter-tall bronze sculpture of a woman has drawn attention outside Uppsala Cathedral. British artist Sean Henry is currently installing 16 works in the church ahead of a vernissage on May 28.

Artist Sean Henry explains that cathedrals like Uppsala Cathedral are about people and lived lives. He aims to connect the present and the past by placing ordinary people in spaces once reserved for saints.

The exhibition is titled “Who am I?” and the sculptures can already be viewed. Henry has previously exhibited in places including Salisbury Cathedral.

In the clip he explains why the bronze sculpture “Walking Figure” stands exactly 230 centimeters tall.
