Former prime minister Felipe González on Tuesday called on Pedro Sánchez to resign or call elections, one day before his appearance in Congress.
During an event in Toledo marking the 50th anniversary of the business federation Fedeto, González and Castilla-La Mancha president Emiliano García-Page criticized the Supreme Court sentence in the Koldo case. The ruling sentences former minister José Luis Ábalos to 24 years in prison and his former adviser Koldo García to 19 years.
González stated that the situation is exactly the same as the one that led to the no-confidence motion against Mariano Rajoy in 2018. Both leaders said the sentence is enormously relevant because Ábalos was part of the founding core of the current PSOE era.
The two socialist figures demanded explanations at the party's Federal Committee scheduled for Saturday 27 June. González insisted that Sánchez bears clear political responsibility for having appointed the convicted individuals.
