Guerrero Governor Evelyn Salgado Pineda inaugurated the 50th edition of Tianguis Turístico México 2026 in Acapulco, emphasizing the port's recovery and its historic return as host. Federal and state officials praised the region's tourism revival, projecting 8,000 participants and over 1,150 million pesos in economic impact.
Guerrero Governor Evelyn Salgado Pineda led the inauguration ceremony at Centro de Convenciones Expo Mundo Imperial, joined by Interior Secretary Rosa Icela Rodríguez Velázquez and Tourism Secretary Josefina Rodríguez Zamora.
"This is Acapulco's moment, the Sun's Home moment, the moment to make history," Salgado Pineda stated, noting the event's return to its Guerrero origins, birthplace of the Tianguis 50 years ago. She highlighted over 17,000 available rooms, nearly 90% of total capacity, thanks to support from President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo.
Rodríguez Zamora provided figures: 8,000 visitors, nearly 59,000 business meetings—a 40% increase from last year—and over 1,300 exhibiting companies. Rosa Icela Rodríguez hailed Acapulco's renewed splendor as a symbol of resilience and a chance to showcase Mexico's culture and gastronomy.
Following the ceremony, the Guerrero Pavilion was inaugurated, the largest with 400 participants and 120 promotional spaces. Veracruz Governor Rocío Nahle García also took part, opening her state's stand focused on community tourism in areas like Zongolica and Totonaca.
The event gathers all 32 states and representatives from over 100 countries, bolstering commercial alliances and Mexico's global positioning.
