NFL records show that head coach and quarterback reunions have rarely succeeded in the past. Aaron Rodgers and Mike McCarthy now prepare for their own second chapter together.
Past pairings provide few positive precedents. Pete Carroll and Geno Smith posted an 18-17 record in their first stint with the Seattle Seahawks but managed just 2-13 in a single season with the Las Vegas Raiders that ended with Carroll's dismissal. Bill Parcells and Vinny Testaverde achieved a strong 12-2 mark with the New York Jets yet finished 5-10 during their later season with the Dallas Cowboys. Parcells later reunited with Drew Bledsoe for a 12-10 record across two years in Dallas without reaching the playoffs.
