Lee Cheuk‑hing has resigned as principal of San Wui Commercial Society Secondary School following a confrontation with security guards during a school trip to Singapore.
Lee Cheuk‑hing tendered his resignation on Thursday as principal of San Wui Commercial Society Secondary School in Tuen Mun. School manager Edmund Wong Chun‑sek confirmed the move and noted that the board of directors must still meet to decide whether to accept it.
In a video released later on Thursday, Lee apologised repeatedly to Hongkongers and all sectors in Singapore. “As a principal, I should lead by example. Regardless of the circumstances, I should remain calm and restrained. But unfortunately, I failed to do so,” he said, adding that he admits his mistake and apologises to everyone.
Lee pledged full cooperation with investigations by the Education Bureau and the school board. He urged his students not to follow his example and to stay calm and resolve problems rationally at all times.
