Indonesia's Directorate General of Immigration has prepared a special team to ease immigration services for foreign athletes. Director General Hendarsam Marantoko announced this after watching the IBL All-Star 2026 at Bandung Arena on April 11, 2026 evening.
The Directorate General of Immigration under the Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Services (Kemenimipas) announced the formation of a special team for the sports sector. This step aims to support the national sports ecosystem by easing administrative services for foreign athletes and sports figures in Indonesia. Director General Hendarsam Marantoko made the statement after watching the IBL All-Star 2026 game at Bandung Arena, Bandung, West Java, on Saturday evening (April 11).
"We will form a special team handling the sports sector, so athletes will find the administrative process easier," Hendarsam said. The team will provide a dedicated fast track lane at airports to avoid long queues for document checks. Administrative processes will also be simplified via an app to prevent repeated inspections.
Hendarsam noted that such facilities are crucial as long queues can affect athletes' mood and field performance, potentially harming clubs like those in the Indonesian Basketball League (IBL). Foreign athletes enhance competition quality and serve as ambassadors promoting Indonesia internationally.
Immigration will maintain oversight of foreign nationals working in Indonesia, emphasizing guidance, prevention, and education. The policy is expected to strengthen the national sports ecosystem and boost economic impacts from hosting international sports events.
