Indonesia dominated from the first match at Forum Horsens. Jonatan Christie, debuting as first singles, defeated Adel Hamek 21-8, 21-6. "This is my first experience playing Thomas Cup as first singles. There is responsibility, but I tried my best," Jonatan Christie said, as quoted by PBSI.
Alwi Farhan followed by beating Mohamed Abderrahime Belarbi 21-8, 21-7, while Anthony Sinisuka Ginting sealed a 3-0 lead after defeating Mohamed Abdelaziz Ouchefoun 21-8, 21-6. Ginting plans to use the break for evaluation. "Tomorrow there's training during the rest day, so what I experienced today I'll repeat in practice," he said.
In doubles, Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri won 21-14, 21-8 over Mohamed Abderrahime Belarbi/Koceila Mammeri. Raymond Indra/Nikolaus Joaquin completed the 5-0 sweep with 21-4, 21-7 against Adel Hamek/Mohamed Abdelaziz Ouchefoun in their debut. "Happy to debut in Thomas Cup," Nikolaus Joaquin said.
