M. Jamshed addressed The Hindu’s Maharashtra Infrastructure Conclave 2026 in Mumbai on May 22, highlighting infrastructure as key to economic growth. Australian and Finnish consuls general discussed investment opportunities and urban projects during the event.
M. Jamshed said infrastructure is not merely the bedrock of development but development itself. He described Maharashtra as a lighthouse for infrastructure from Delhi’s perspective and noted the Centre’s shift since 2014 toward integrated physical, digital and social infrastructure.
Australian Consul General Paul Murphy called the pace of transformation in Mumbai and Maharashtra astounding. He cited metro rail expansion, the Coastal Road and highway projects as drivers of investor confidence, adding that Australian firms are exploring renewable energy and electric mobility partnerships.
Finland’s Consul General Erik Hallstrom stressed the need for more public transport, including metro lines and integrated systems. He highlighted Finnish interest in sustainability, green technologies and education, while noting competition from other Indian states for global investments.
