The Instagram for TV app launched on Samsung Smart TVs in the US on Monday. Users can now browse Reels, Stories and Channels on compatible models from 2020 onward. The service already runs on Amazon Fire TV and Google TV devices.
The expansion brings Instagram's TV experience to Samsung users across the country. Viewers can watch group-friendly content grouped into topic-based channels covering areas such as music, sports and travel.
Instagram said the app aims to make it easier to enjoy videos together on the largest screen in the home. It also lets users view Stories from friends and creators directly on television.
The company is testing additional features including the ability to cast Reels from a phone to the TV and a dedicated section for horizontal videos. It continues to explore long-form videos, livestreams and episodic series with input from creators.
Instagram launched the app for Amazon Fire TV devices in December and rolled it out to Google TVs in February.
