A 24-year-old intern doctor surnamed Lai was released on bail after about 21 hours in custody on suspicion of unauthorised access to patient data at a Hong Kong hospital.
Lai was arrested at around 7pm on Friday at Cheung Sha Wan Police Station on suspicion of accessing a computer with dishonest intent. She was released at around 4.30pm on Saturday and required to report back to police in early July.
She was taken back to Caritas Medical Centre at noon on Saturday for evidence collection as part of the ongoing probe. Lai had been dismissed by the Hospital Authority for misconduct and could face up to five years in prison if convicted.
A police spokesman confirmed the bail conditions. The woman was seen wearing casual clothes and a face mask during the return to her former workplace.
