Ipswich Town sign Daizen Maeda from Celtic

Ipswich Town have completed the signing of Japan international Daizen Maeda from Celtic. The 28-year-old forward has agreed a three-year contract reportedly worth around £10 million.

Newly promoted Ipswich Town announced Maeda as their fifth summer signing. The move comes as the club aims to establish itself in the Premier League after promotion.

Maeda, who played for Japan at this summer’s World Cup, expressed pride in joining the club. “I am very proud to sign for Ipswich Town,” he said. “I have always dreamed of playing in the Premier League.”

Ipswich manager Gary O’Neil praised Maeda’s work rate and physical attributes. “He works extremely hard and has impressive physical attributes,” O’Neil said.

Maeda scored 79 goals in 212 games for Celtic, where he won five league titles. Celtic thanked him for his contributions and wished him well.

Ipswich open their Premier League season on 22 August against Sunderland at Portman Road.
