Former Formula 1 driver Jolyon Palmer believes Ferrari could possess the quickest car on the grid by the close of the 2026 season.
Palmer made the comments on the F1 Nation podcast ahead of the Austrian Grand Prix. He pointed to the team's recent development push and upcoming power unit upgrades as key factors.
"The innovation on the car - you can see it from the start of the year. They've got a duo, so they've got some power unit performance to bring," Palmer said. "If they can get that sorted, they could have maybe the best car by the end of the year."
Ferrari ended Mercedes' early dominance after the latter won the first six races in Australia, China, Japan, Miami, Canada and Monaco. Lewis Hamilton secured his first victory for the team in Barcelona.
Hamilton currently sits second in the drivers' championship, 41 points behind Kimi Antonelli and nine ahead of George Russell. He acknowledged the challenge ahead while noting the team's new engine upgrade.
