The U.S. Department of Justice filed a lawsuit against the University of California, Los Angeles on Tuesday. It accused the school of violating federal civil rights law by tolerating a hostile environment for Jewish and Israeli students.
The complaint cited an encampment built on campus in April 2024. Officials said the action was illegal and that Jewish students faced attacks during the protest. The suit claims UCLA showed deliberate indifference to pervasive antisemitism on campus in breach of Title VI rules on federal funding recipients.
