Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli received praise for his determination during a challenging British Grand Prix at Silverstone. A mechanical issue ended his hopes of victory but highlighted his championship mentality.
Antonelli closed rapidly on race leader Charles Leclerc before a front-right wheel shield failure disrupted his steering. The Italian driver pleaded with his team to continue racing for points despite the problem and ultimately finished 15th after a track limits penalty.
Naomi Schiff highlighted Antonelli's refusal to give up, noting his attitude of fighting for even a single point. She said this mindset was essential for winning a Formula 1 title.
Antonelli admitted valuable points were lost but emphasised the car's pace. He said the setback would fuel stronger performances ahead, with his championship lead now 25 points over teammate George Russell.
