Deputy President Prof Kithure Kindiki has warned the opposition to brace for defeat in the 2027 general elections, stating President William Ruto will serve two terms. He spoke while inspecting the Kagumo–Kiamaina road construction in Kagumo, Kirinyaga County.
Deputy President Prof Kithure Kindiki spoke in Kagumo, Kirinyaga County, while inspecting the construction of the Kagumo–Kiamaina road. He was accompanied by Governor Anne Waiguru and MP Kati Gachoki Gitari.
Kindiki said the opposition should prepare for a fierce political contest and it will not be easy for them to win. “President William Ruto will serve two terms, opposition like it or not,” he stated.
He criticized opposition leaders for boasting too early and promised to show them "dust." He said the opposition has degenerated into insults and propaganda, while the government launches development projects. “We are initiating development projects for the benefit of Kenyans, but when politics time comes we will show we are real men," he added.
He urged Mt Kenya residents not to be misled by the opposition and to stay in government to benefit from its resources. He also criticized former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for disrespecting elected female leaders. “Gachagua lacks respect for elected female leaders, he should be rejected,” he said.
Governor Waiguru backed him, saying the government has resources to build roads and markets and they will not join the opposition. The leaders pledged to work together to rally Mt Kenya behind Ruto in the upcoming election.
