Kingdom Hearts IV trailer includes characters from delisted mobile game

A new trailer for Kingdom Hearts IV has revealed several characters originating from the now-delisted mobile title Kingdom Hearts Union X Dark Road. The prequel game, which covered key backstory events, was removed from digital stores in 2024. Square Enix has not yet provided an official way for players to access its story.

The latest Kingdom Hearts IV trailer highlights figures such as those tied to the Keyblade War and antagonist Xehanort's origins. These elements come from Kingdom Hearts Union X Dark Road, a combination of two mobile games set before the main series events.

The dual package was delisted from digital storefronts in 2024. No official catch-up method has been released by Square Enix despite the story's apparent importance to future entries.

Kingdom Hearts IV remains without a release date. It is planned for PC, PS5, Switch 2, and Xbox Series X/S.

Fans have uploaded cutscenes to platforms like YouTube as an unofficial option for viewing the content.
