Indonesia's Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) conducted a sting operation (OTT) in Tulungagung, East Java, arresting 16 people including Regent Gatut Sunu Wibowo. This marks the 10th OTT in 2026. KPK has 24 hours to determine the legal status of those detained under the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP).
Indonesia's Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) secured 16 individuals in a sting operation in Tulungagung on Friday, April 10, 2026. Among them was Tulungagung Regent Gatut Sunu Wibowo, as confirmed by KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo.
"The team secured a total of 16 people, one of whom is the Tulungagung Regent," Budi Prasetyo told reporters. KPK Deputy Chair Fitroh Rohcahyanto also confirmed Gatut's arrest, stating "True."
KPK has not detailed the identities of the other 15 and will provide further updates. The anti-graft agency has a 24-hour window to determine the status of those arrested under the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP).
Gatut Sunu Wibowo, born December 17, 1967, in Tulungagung, serves as regent for 2025-2030. The former businessman was once a PDI Perjuangan cadre and deputy regent in 2021, before running with support from Gerindra, Golkar, and PKS in 2024. His Instagram profile indicates he is now a Gerindra cadre.
