Krill has released its first new song in a decade. The Chicago-based indie rock band shared “Commemorative Plaque” featuring new guitarist Andrew Clinkman and several guest musicians.
The formerly Boston-based trio reunited in Chicago with an updated lineup. Singer-bassist Jonah Furman, drummer Ian Becker, and guitarist Andrew Clinkman released the single, which also features violinist Macie Stewart from Finom along with saxophonist Will Greene.
In an Instagram statement, Furman described the track as an ode to Aretha Franklin’s 1970 hit “Call Me.” He called it a companion to an earlier song about coming home and moving back to Chicago after years away.
Krill formed in 2010 and released three albums during its original five-year run. The band broke up after relocating to New York City but issued a self-titled EP in 2016. It later reissued its debut album for the 10th anniversary in 2022.
