Kris Bubic placed on injured list with left elbow soreness

The Kansas City Royals placed pitcher Kris Bubic on the 15-day injured list Monday with left elbow soreness. The move comes ahead of the team's series against the Boston Red Sox and is retroactive to last Friday. In a corresponding move, the Royals recalled reliever Eli Morgan from Triple-A Omaha.

Bubic had been scheduled to start Tuesday but the Royals will instead use a bullpen game. He reported mild soreness in the forearm flexor area after his previous outing in Chicago, where he allowed five runs in four innings. Bubic has a history of injuries including Tommy John surgery in 2023 and a left rotator cuff strain in 2025. He said the current issue is not severe and expects a short absence of just a few weeks.
