Pinalaya si Franco Mabanta at apat na kasamahan matapos magpiyansa sa kasong pangingikil laban kay dating Speaker Martin Romualdez.

Inutos ng Pasig Regional Trial Court Branch 167 noong Sabado ang pagpapalaya sa kanila matapos mag-post ng piyansa na P120,000 bawat isa. Naaresto si Mabanta at ang iba pa noong Mayo 5 sa isang entrapment operation ng National Bureau of Investigation.

Kasama sa mga pinalaya sina Ericson James Pacaba, John Alexander Vasquez Gomez, Jardine Christian Requio Serrano at Franco Jose Gallardo. Sila ay nakakulong sa New Bilibid Prison sa Muntinlupa City.

Sinabi ni Mabanta na isang setup ang operasyon. Ayon naman kay Romualdez, ang PGMN ay gumagamit ng video para sa extortion at hindi para sa tunay na journalism.
