A man was arrested Saturday at President Trump's Doral National Golf Club near Miami after becoming disruptive near a Secret Service security area. The U.S. Secret Service confirmed that Trump was not present at the time. He faces charges of disorderly conduct and resisting without violence.
The incident took place around 4:15 p.m. at Trump National Doral Golf Club, just outside Miami. According to Michael Townsend, acting special agent in charge of the Secret Service Miami field office, the man approached a security area, became disruptive, and failed to comply with lawful orders. He made physical contact with a Secret Service member before being taken into custody by the Doral Police Department without further incident, Townsend said in a statement. The man's identity has not been released publicly at this time. Townsend emphasized that the situation did not affect the established security posture for the president's visit to the club. The arrest occurred one week after shots were fired at the White House Correspondents' Dinner in Washington, D.C., where Trump was rushed off the dais. A Secret Service agent was struck by a round but protected by a bulletproof vest, and suspect Cole Tomas Allen faces charges of attempting to assassinate the president. In a related prior event in 2024, Ryan Routh was convicted of trying to assassinate then-candidate Trump at his Trump International Golf Course in West Palm Beach and sentenced to life in prison.
