Max Verstappen led the opening practice session at the Belgian Grand Prix, finishing just over a tenth of a second ahead of Lewis Hamilton.
Max Verstappen set the fastest time of 1m47.070s during Friday's first practice session at Spa-Francorchamps. The Red Bull driver edged out Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton, who posted 1m47.215s on soft tyres.
Charles Leclerc placed third for Ferrari with a lap 0.207s slower than Verstappen. Isack Hadjar finished fourth in the second Red Bull, 0.252s off the pace.
Oscar Piastri ended fifth for McLaren, 0.452s behind, after encountering hydraulic issues late in the session. He was instructed to stop the car but returned to the garage without further incident.
Kimi Antonelli was sixth, while Lando Norris and George Russell completed the top eight. Lance Stroll placed 21st for Aston Martin, more than five seconds off the leading time.
