Milly Alcock reveals Supergirl cape origin from Reeve film

Milly Alcock shared that her cape for the upcoming Supergirl film incorporates material from Christopher Reeve's original Superman cape. The revelation came during an appearance on the Raiders of the Lost Podcast. The Warner Bros. movie is set to premiere on June 26.

Alcock stated that her costume uses fabric from the 1978 Superman production. “My cape in this film was remade using material from the original Superman cape,” she said. “Yeah, I think that they found there was like 16 meters of that material, so yeah, that’s in the back of my cape now.”

The actress described the cape as a special family hand-me-down for her role as Kara Zor-El. Director Craig Gillespie helms the project, which marks Alcock's solo debut in the DC Universe.

The film also features Jason Momoa as Lobo and draws from Tom King's 2022 comic series Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. Reeve starred in Superman and its sequels before his death in 2004.
