Mineros secures environmental approval for Porvenir project in Nicaragua

Colombian mining company Mineros S.A. announced it has obtained environmental certification for the processing plant and tailings deposit of the Porvenir project in Nicaragua. This milestone enables progress toward detailed engineering and future construction. The project holds reserves of 736,000 equivalent gold ounces.

Mineros reported that the environmental approval adds to six key approvals already obtained in Nicaragua, consolidating the project's regulatory front. According to the company, some areas are already enabled for construction start, while additional permits like forest and discharge authorizations are expected before the end of 2026.

Proyecto Porvenir features a plant with 2,500 tons per day capacity and a tailings deposit of 5.85 million cubic meters, designed to international standards. In resources, it totals 736,000 equivalent gold ounces (AuEq) in proven and probable reserves, 406,000 ounces in measured and indicated resources, and 313,000 inferred ounces.

The complex has a polymetallic profile, producing copper, lead, and zinc concentrates alongside gold and silver doré. Mineros is evaluating accelerating the timeline to move from studies to construction, positioning Porvenir as a key pillar in its Central America growth strategy and income diversification.
