Ming and J.N. Shapiro have released a new collaboration timepiece called the 37.06 Lightning. The watch combines Ming’s modern design with handmade guilloché work from J.N. Shapiro.
The 37.06 Lightning builds on Ming’s existing 37-series case, measuring 38mm by 44.5mm in polished and brushed 316L stainless steel. It features a 10.9mm thickness, 100-meter water resistance, and a dark blue Barenia calfskin strap. The standout element is the dial. J.N. Shapiro engraved a lightning pattern on Grade 2 titanium using a rose-engine lathe in Los Angeles. The dials were then shipped to Ming founder Ming Thein in Kuala Lumpur, where he applied heat with a butane torch to create natural purple, blue, and gold tones. Inside sits the Ming SW210.M1 manual-winding movement from Sellita with a 42-hour power reserve. The watch is priced at CHF 6,250 and goes on sale today at 13:00 GMT with an initial batch ready for shipping. Production is limited by the time-intensive dial process rather than by a set edition size.
