Martina Ström in Hedemora was accidentally added to a chat group with elementary school children where hate, death threats and suicide incitements occurred.

Martina Ström was shocked by the terrible messages streaming into the group. She managed to see between 30 and 40 users writing at the same time before being blocked after taking screenshots. The group aimed to reach 150 members.

Ström contacted parents of children she recognized and posted on Facebook to warn others. Many parents were alarmed while some were already aware of the issues.

Police and the school in Hedemora have been informed. Crime prevention coordinator Märta Brandts stresses that parents have a major responsibility to be present in children's digital lives and discuss online behavior.
