The New York Giants have declined the fifth-year option on cornerback Deonte Banks, a 2023 first-round pick whose performance has declined each season. The decision comes after Banks recorded limited production in 2025. New York has added depth at the position through free agency and the draft.
The Giants informed Banks that they would not exercise the option, which carried a fully guaranteed value of $12.633 million for the 2026 season. The move followed a deadline on May 1 for teams to decide on fifth-year options for 2023 first-round selections. Banks appeared in 16 games last season with six starts, recording 31 tackles and five passes defended but no interceptions or forced fumbles.
