Niklas Edin skipped Sweden to a 9-6 win over Canada in the final of the 2026 World Men's Curling Championship at the Weber County Ice Sheet in Ogden, Utah. The 40-year-old Edin, with third Oskar Eriksson, second Rasmus Wranå and lead Christoffer Sundgren, scored deuces in ends with the hammer to maintain the lead. Canada responded with pairs and singles but fell short, scoring one in the ninth and yielding one in the tenth without Sweden using its final stone. This marks Sweden's 13th title overall and Edin's eighth personally, extending his record. Earlier, Sweden beat the USA's John Shuster in the semifinals, while Canada defeated Scotland's Ross Whyte. Scotland took bronze with an 11-6 win over the host USA. The victory follows Sweden's 2-7 record at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, marred by a controversial 'double-touch' incident where Oskar Eriksson accused Canada's Mark Kennedy of an infraction during an 8-6 loss. Sweden had also lost to Canada earlier in the week but rebounded strongly. “We were very disappointed after the Olympics, so I feel we had a monkey on our backs going into this week,” Edin told World Curling. “We had to prove to ourselves that we can still curl at a high level. I think we played amazing. ” Canada's Matt Dunstone, in his first world final, said, “We ran into a buzzsaw today... it’s the happiest silver medal I've ever won,” according to Curling Canada. Norway's Wilhelm Naess received the Collie Campbell Memorial Award for sportsmanship, and Paal Trulsen was inducted into the World Curling Hall of Fame.
