Singer Noah Kahan has urged fans to stop taking a road sign from his Vermont hometown. The sign on Alger Brook Road in Strafford gained attention from a lyric in his song “The View Between Villages.” Kahan posted the request on social media after learning the sign has been stolen repeatedly.
Kahan addressed fans traveling to the Upper Valley in an Instagram story. He said the repeated thefts show disrespect to residents and create problems for the town.
The singer offered to pay for replacements until a permanent fix is found. He expressed regret that including the road name in his song led to disruptions for local people.
Kahan also reminded his growing fanbase to respect his family’s privacy and the sanctuary of his hometown. He asked them not to disturb the places or residents there.
The request comes as Kahan discussed returning to Vermont to write his new album The Great Divide in a recent Rolling Stone cover story.
