Mga jet ng PAF sumasama sa US B-52 sa pagsasanay sa West Philippine Sea

Nagsagawa ng limang araw na bilateral na pagsasanay ang mga fighter jet ng Philippine Air Force kasama ang mga B-52 bomber ng Estados Unidos sa ibabaw ng West Philippine Sea. Ginanap ito mula Pebrero 2 hanggang 6 upang mapalakas ang interoperability sa pagitan ng dalawang pwersa. Kasama rito ang live drop, air defense scenario, at joint patrol.

Sa isang pagpapakita ng matibay na alyansa, nagsama-samang lumipad at nagtrabaho ang mga fighter jet ng Philippine Air Force (PAF) kasama ang mga B-52 bomber ng militar ng Estados Unidos sa Bilateral Bomber Air Patrol and Live Drop Exercise. Ginanap ito mula Pebrero 2 hanggang 6 sa iba't ibang lokasyon, kabilang ang Colonel Ernesto Rabina Air Base (CERAB) sa Tarlac City at sa ibabaw ng West Philippine Sea (WPS) sa pamamagitan ng Luzon Strait, na sinusuportahan ng Special Operations Command Pacific (SOCPAC) at US Marine Corps Forces, Pacific (MARFORPAC).

Ayon sa spokesperson ng PAF na si Col. Ma. Christina Basco, nagsimula ang pagsasanay sa live drop exercise sa CERAB noong Pebrero 2, gamit ang FA-50PH fighter aircraft at B-52 bomber, na may joint planning mula sa SOCPAC at MARFORPAC. Noong Pebrero 4, nagsagawa ng air defense scenario sa ibabaw ng WPS, na nakatuon sa airspace coordination, command-and-control integration, at joint operational response.

Nagtapos ito noong Pebrero 6 sa joint bomber air patrol sa ibabaw ng WPS at Luzon Strait, na nagpapakita ng combined mission planning, airspace coordination, at operational readiness sa pagitan ng PAF, Pacific Air Forces (PACAF), at mga sumusuportang US forces.

"Ang mga aktibidad na ito ay nagpalakas ng bilateral interoperability, operational readiness at strategic cooperation sa pamamagitan ng joint planning, coordination at execution sa isang realistic training environment," sabi ni Basco.

Inihayag din ng Armed Forces of the Philippines na magpapatuloy ang paggamit ng mga bagong sea at air assets para sa maraming naval at air exercises kasama ang mga treaty allies sa WPS sa susunod na dalawang buwan.
