Pinas at Timog Korea, nag-sign ng kasabayan sa pag-unlad ng rocket

Nag-sign ang Philippine Space Agency at mga ahensya ng Pilipinas kasama ang Perigee Aerospace ng Timog Korea ng Memorandum of Understanding noong Marso 4, 2026, upang makipagtulungan sa pag-unlad ng rocket at mga pagsubok na paglunsad sa Pilipinas. Layunin nito na subukan ang pagtatayo ng Philippine Spaceport dahil sa lokasyon ng bansa malapit sa ekwador. Ito ay magpapatibay ng kakayahan ng Pilipinas sa pananaliksik sa kalawakan at engineering.

Sa Manila, nag-sign ang Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA), kasama ang mga pampublikong at pribadong ahensya ng Pilipinas, at ang Perigee Aerospace, Inc. ng Republic of Korea ng MOU noong Marso 4, 2026. Ang kasunduan na ito ay para sa kooperasyon sa pag-unlad ng rocket at mga pagsubok na paglunsad sa Pilipinas, na gumagamit ng lokasyon ng bansa malapit sa Pasipiko at ekwador upang maging gateway sa kalawakan sa rehiyon.

Pinirmahan ito ni PhilSA Ad Interim Director General Gay Jane P. Perez, Department of Information and Communications Technology Secretary Henry R. Aguda, Cagayan Economic Zone Authority Administrator at CEO Secretary Katrina Ponce Enrile, Perigee Aerospace CEO Dong Yoon Shin, at Ascend International Gateway President Ramon C. Garcia Jr. sa panahon ng Philippines–Korea Business Forum.

Batay ito sa programa ng paglipat ng kaalaman at pagsasanay para sa mga engineer ng PhilSA sa Timog Korea mula Oktubre hanggang Nobyembre 2025. Ang 'Know-How Transfer and Training program on Small Launch Vehicle' ay nagbigay ng teorya sa rocket at praktikal na karanasan sa pag-assemble ng mga subsystem.

Ito ay bahagi ng matagal nang kooperasyon mula sa MOU noong 2022. Ayon kay Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., "All of these will ripple into significant partnerships that will generate projects, investments, and of course, livelihood."

Ang PhilSA ay itinatag noong Agosto 2019 sa ilalim ng Republic Act No. 11363 upang magplano at mag-develop ng programa sa kalawakan. Ito ay nakakabit sa Opisina ng Pangulo para sa koordinasyon ng patakaran.
