Palasyo: Protektado ang interes ng Pilipinas sa pagsisiyasat ng langis kasama ang China

Siniguro ng Malacañang na patuloy na protektado ang karapatan ng Pilipinas sa West Philippine Sea habang nagbubukas ng 'initial exchanges' ang Manila at Beijing sa potensyal na pagsisiyasat ng langis at gas.

MANILA — Sinabi ni Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary Claire Castro na magiging tapat ang administrasyong Marcos sa mga diskusyon at maingat sa pagprotekta ng interes ng bansa at bawat Pilipino.

"Walang mawawala na interes ng Pilipinas, at wala ring ibebebenta," aniya sa Filipino.

Nagtipon ang Pilipinas at China para sa 24th Foreign Ministry Consultations at 11th Meeting of the Bilateral Consultation Mechanism on the South China Sea noong March 27 at 28 sa Quanzhou City, Fujian province ng China. Ayon sa Department of Foreign Affairs, nag-usap sila tungkol sa stable access sa energy at fertilizers, green energy, trade, at agriculture.

Nagpatuloy ang progreso sa mga praktikal na hakbang tulad ng komunikasyon sa coast guard, ocean meteorology, at initial exchanges sa oil at gas cooperation.

Sa panayam kay Bloomberg, binanggit ni Pangulong Marcos na ang digmaan ng US at Israel laban sa Iran ay maaaring magbigay ng 'impetus' para sa joint development sa West Philippine Sea. Samantala, sinabi ng Chinese embassy na bukas ang pinto sa dialogue pero kailangan munang magpakita ng sincerity ang Pilipinas. Idineklara rin ni Marcos ang state of national energy emergency noong nakaraang linggo.
