A luxury Porsche Cayenne using a fake Ministry of Defense (Kemenhan) license plate was discovered at Halim Perdanakusuma Airport in Jakarta. Defense Ministry officials conducted a routine inspection on January 28, 2026, confirming the vehicle is not an official one. The driver was arrested, and the car was handed over to police.
The incident began with a routine inspection by Ministry of Defense (Kemenhan) officials on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at Halim Perdanakusuma Airport in Jakarta. A Porsche Cayenne bearing the official plate number 50212-00 raised suspicions, leading to further checks. Administrative verification revealed the vehicle is not listed in Kemenhan's inventory, and the plate does not match official records.
On Thursday, January 29, 2026, Brigjen TNI Rico Ricardo Sirait, Head of the Public Relations and Defense Information Bureau at the Kemenhan Secretariat General, confirmed the findings. "From the results of the inspection and administrative checks, the vehicle in question is not recorded as an official vehicle, while the license plate used does not match the inventory data," he stated.
Due to the misuse of state attributes, the driver was immediately detained, and the car was seized. The vehicle was then handed over to the East Jakarta Metropolitan Police Resort through inter-agency coordination, accompanied by Complaint Report Proof Letter Number STTLP/B/371/I/2026/SPKT.
Brigjen Rico emphasized Kemenhan's firm stance on such cases. "We do not tolerate the unauthorized use of official attributes. Every finding will be followed up and coordinated with law enforcement authorities to ensure the process runs according to regulations," he said. Kemenhan has also established a special task force to monitor the use of identities and official facilities, aiming to safeguard institutional integrity and public trust.
