Prosecution maintains 15-year prison request for Fernández Díaz in Kitchen case

The anticorruption prosecutor upheld conclusions today in the Kitchen operation trial, requesting 15 years in prison for former minister Jorge Fernández Díaz and other defendants.

Prosecutor César de Rivas reiterated initial penalties for several defendants, including 15 years for Francisco Martínez and Andrés Gómez Gordo on charges of concealment, misappropriation of public funds and crimes against privacy. He also seeks 19 years for commissioner José Manuel Villarejo over illegal espionage on Luis Bárcenas and his family.

The state attorney has withdrawn some accusations, such as obstruction of justice against Fernández Díaz. Three individuals have been acquitted after charges were dropped by multiple parties.

Testimonies were heard today from José Ángel Fuentes Gago, Bonifacio Díez Sevillano and José Luis Olivera, who denied involvement in operations against Podemos. The case centers on the alleged removal of evidence regarding irregular PP financing.
