Prosecutors examine Bandung deputy mayor in corruption case

On Thursday, October 30, 2025, investigators from the Bandung City Prosecutor's Office conducted raids on several offices of local government organizations (OPD) within the Bandung City administration. The searches aimed to collect evidence related to alleged corruption involving abuse of authority in the 2025 budget year. Head of the Bandung City Prosecutor's Office, Irfan Wibowo, stated that the team seized several documents as well as electronic evidence devices such as handphones and laptops.

"Following the searches conducted, the investigation team seized several pieces of evidence in the form of documents and electronic evidence tools such as handphones and laptops," Irfan said during a press briefing in Bandung. These items will be further examined for the purposes of the investigation. Irfan emphasized that the obtained evidence is strong enough to elevate the status from preliminary investigation to full prosecution.

In addition to the raids, investigators questioned several witnesses, including Bandung Deputy Mayor Erwin. Erwin's examination took place at the Bandung City Prosecutor's Office by the Special Crimes Section on the same day. As of now, Erwin holds the status of a witness in the alleged corruption offense.

The Attorney General's Office confirmed the examination through its Head of Public Relations for Law, Anang Supriatna. "Indeed, there was an examination of the Bandung Deputy Mayor by investigators from the Bandung City Prosecutor's Office today regarding the alleged corruption case," Anang said in Jakarta. He denied any operation to catch someone in the act (OTT) against Erwin, firmly stating, "There was no OTT."

Anang did not detail the corruption case under scrutiny and directed journalists to follow the Bandung City Prosecutor's Office press conference at 7:00 PM WIB. Irfan is optimistic that the prosecution process will conclude soon with the determination of suspects, to achieve good governance in Bandung. "We are confident this case will be resolved soon for a much better Bandung by implementing the principles of good governance," he added.
