The Workers' Party (PT) ended its party affiliation window with 40 new members ahead of October elections, 13 of whom are political newcomers. Celebrity journalist Leão Lobo, a TV Fama host on RedeTV!, is set to run for state or federal deputy from São Paulo or Rio de Janeiro.

Kátia Abreu, a rancher and former Agriculture minister under Dilma Rousseff, joined the PT on Saturday, April 4. In a social media speech, she endorsed Lula's reelection, democracy, and free private enterprise. “We will fight for democracy, for President Lula's reelection (…) We will continue fighting for better days, for people's equality, for more social justice. This [Tocantins] is the state of free private enterprise, work, and social justice above all,” she said.

Nile William, head of the PT's Tocantins state directory, noted Abreu's support for Rousseff against impeachment. Abreu has previously been with PFL, PSD, MDB, and PDT, aligning with petistas in 2022. The list also includes former Health Minister Nísia Trindade.
