Two blockbuster fantasy series will release new books this fall, pitting dragon-filled tales against faerie romance in a direct competition. Rebecca Yarros's Threshing Day arrives September 29, while Sarah J. Maas's sixth A Court of Thorns and Roses novel follows on October 27.
Rebecca Yarros announced the release of Threshing Day last week. The book is a collection of 13 stories featuring characters and dragons from the Empyrean series. It serves as a side addition rather than the next main installment after Onyx Storm.
Onyx Storm, the third book in the series, sold more than 2.7 million copies in its first week. It was the fastest-selling adult novel in 20 years at the time.
Sarah J. Maas is preparing her untitled sixth ACOTAR book for October 27. A seventh book of 928 pages is scheduled for January.
Each series has sold an estimated 13 million copies overall. Yarros leads on a per-book sales basis.
