Remi Tinubu urges Davido and Burna Boy to aid the poor

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu called on entertainers including Davido and Burna Boy to establish charitable foundations during the launch of the National Community Food Bank Programme in Lokoja on Saturday.

Speaking at the event, Tinubu defended her earlier comments on supporting small businesses such as akara frying. She noted that luxury vehicles like Maybachs and Rolls-Royces are good but urged wealthy Nigerians to help the less privileged.

Tinubu cited Akon as an example of charitable work in entertainment. She appealed directly to Burna Boy, Asake and Davido to create foundations for the poor.

The First Lady also announced a ₦100 million donation to empower 2,000 petty traders in Kogi State with ₦50,000 each. She shared the story of an Abuja graduate who expanded his akara business to employ 12 workers after receiving support.

President Bola Tinubu had earlier referred to her jokingly as “Iya Alakara” amid public debate over the remarks.
