Ruy Fonseca pays tribute to Olympic horse Tom Bombadill Too

Brazilian equestrian Ruy Fonseca has paid tribute to his longtime partner Tom Bombadill Too following the horse's death at age 26.

Tom Bombadill Too, known as Tommy, competed with Fonseca at the London 2012 and Rio 2016 Olympic Games. The pair also represented Brazil at six championships across 15 countries.

Fonseca said the gelding left on the previous Sunday. He described the journey as unique and unbelievable, noting that Tommy changed his life and provided many opportunities.

The horse began competing in British Eventing at age five. Fonseca took over in 2009 and advanced rapidly to five-star level, achieving top results including team bronze at the Pan American Games.

Fellow riders including Mark Todd and Anna Ross have also shared tributes. Fonseca thanked groom Caroline Gordon and others involved with the horse.
