Sánchez accompanies Pope León XIV in Arguineguín without incidents

The prime minister visited Arguineguín pier alongside Pope León XIV last Thursday. Two local brothers voiced criticism through media outlets, but no protests occurred.

José Luis and Juan Carlos Sánchez, brothers from Vecindario, volunteered to criticize Pedro Sánchez’s presence at the pier. They told outlets including Cuatro and ABC that the prime minister abandoned them during the 2020 migrant crisis.

They said Sánchez should arrive by submarine to avoid boos and denied being racist. Mogán mayor Onalia Bueno had also opposed the visit in advance.

Yet many people present greeted the prime minister and took photos with him. Conservative media highlighted an image of Sánchez holding a baby.

The government deployed 14 ministers at events with the pontiff. Sánchez thanked him for his message of peace and solidarity with those most in need.
