The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a yellow level 2 warning for damaging winds in the Northern and Western Cape, valid from 26 April 2026. The adverse weather is expected to persist into Monday.

Forecaster Langutelani Mathebula said rainfall accumulation of 20 to 40 millimeters is expected over the southwestern parts of the Western Cape. Strong interior winds of 40 to 50 km/h, gusting to 70 to 90 km/h, are forecast over the southern parts of the Namakwa region and the Central Karoo on Sunday.

"We’re expecting some difficult driving conditions for high-sided vehicles. We’re also expecting some difficulty in navigation at sea due to rough and choppy seas," Mathebula said.

Motorists and seafarers are advised to exercise caution amid the approaching cold front.
