Uttar Pradesh athlete Vidhi Choudhary has been withdrawn from the Asian U23 Athletics Championships after failing a dope test. The 21-year-old shot putter confirmed she will not travel to the event in China.
Vidhi Choudhary, who won gold at the 2025 National Games, was part of India's 54-member team for the championships scheduled from July 9 to 12 in Ordos. Her out-of-competition sample collected in May returned a positive result.
A source close to the matter told PTI that Vidhi has failed the test and will not compete. Vidhi, who trains at NCOE Patiala, stated simply that she would not be travelling for the event.
She had recorded her lifetime best throw of 16.35 metres to finish second at the Indian Athletics Series in Sangrur on May 9. Earlier, she claimed the senior Federation Cup title in 2025 with a throw of 16.10 metres.
