Silent Hill f update adds casual difficulty and new game plus skip

Konami and NeoBards Entertainment have released an update for Silent Hill f, introducing a new Casual action difficulty and an optional skip feature for New Game+ mode. The patch also includes faster stamina replenishment for protagonist Hinako, reduced enemies in certain areas, and numerous bug fixes. These changes aim to make the survival-horror game more accessible while preserving its core experience.

Update Overview

The latest patch for Silent Hill f, rolled out by Konami and developer NeoBards Entertainment, focuses on accessibility improvements and quality-of-life enhancements. Released on November 13, 2025, the update introduces a Casual action difficulty that players can select from the start or unlock after dying a certain number of times. This mode reduces damage taken by Hinako on the Hard difficulty and includes faster stamina replenishment, making survival less punishing.

A key addition is the optional skip feature for New Game+ playthroughs, allowing players to bypass sections without affecting branching paths or endings. However, skipped areas will not yield items, and certain achievements like “Thankful to Be Here,” “Grateful for a Worthy Foe,” and “Clear Skies” will not unlock if used. The update also reduces unskippable combat encounters and enemy placements across multiple sections.

Bug Fixes and System Tweaks

The patch addresses a wide range of issues, including duplicated characters in cutscenes, unresponsive player input after dodging, and progression blockers like enemies that halt events or fail to spawn. Other fixes cover audio glitches, hitbox problems, text errors, loading issues, and graphics settings that revert during cutscenes. Specific bugs resolved involve objectives such as chasing the Fog Monster, defeating the Sakuko-like entity, and obtaining items in New Game+.

Silent Hill f, which launched in September 2025, achieved over 1 million sales in its first 24 hours, surpassing the Silent Hill 2 remake's initial performance. For full details, Konami's patch notes are available on their website.

Broader Context

This update follows the game's strong debut in the survival-horror genre. Meanwhile, Bloober Team is developing a remake of the original Silent Hill, and a film adaptation, Return to Silent Hill, is set for theatrical release on January 23.
