Six people were taken to hospital following a large free concert by Angine de Poitrine at the Montreal Jazz Festival on June 27.
The Quebec duo performed on the TD Stage at Place des Festivals, drawing one of the biggest crowds in the festival's recent history. Officials noted the turnout matched levels last seen during Stevie Wonder's 2009 appearance.
Paramedics from Urgences-santé assessed ten individuals at the event. Six were transported to hospital while four others declined further transport after on-site evaluation. Incidents included falls, traumatic injuries and cases of intoxication.
Benjamin Dansereau-Leclerc, head of operations at Urgences-santé, said some patients were in serious condition but added that responders did not fear for anyone's life. He noted the response was standard for large-scale events.
Festival general manager Maurin Aux described the evening as historic, citing the unprecedented energy and size of the crowd.
