South Korean LPGA golfers enjoy strong bounce-back in 2025

The 2025 LPGA season has ended with South Korean players staging a strong comeback after a sluggish year. Thailand's Jeeno Thitikul won the season finale, capping her memorable campaign. Seven South Koreans claimed victories, up from just three in 2024.

The 2025 LPGA season concluded with a strong performance from South Korean golfers, rebounding from a lackluster previous year. Thailand's Jeeno Thitikul won the CME Group Tour Championship at Tiburon Golf Club in Naples, Florida, on Sunday local time, firing a 26-under 262 for her third victory of the year. As the only player with more than two wins, she claimed the Player of the Year points race, the Vare Trophy for lowest scoring average, and the money title with over $7.5 million, setting a tour record.

South Korea produced seven winners, compared to three in 2024. Kim A-lim opened the season by winning the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions in February, her second career LPGA title following the Lotte Championship three months earlier. Kim Hyo-joo took the Ford Championship in March, followed by Ryu Hae-ran's victory at the Black Desert Championship in May.

In June, Im Jin-hee and Lee So-mi shared the Dow Championship title in the team event, each securing their first LPGA win. October brought two more triumphs: Hwang You-min, a Korean tour star, won the Lotte Championship in Hawaii on a sponsor's exemption as a nonmember, earning her LPGA card for 2026. Veteran Kim Sei-young ended a five-year drought with the BMW Ladies Championship in Haenam, South Jeolla Province—about a 30-minute drive from her hometown of Yeongam. She finished alone in sixth at 16-under in the Tour Championship, the best among South Koreans.

No South Korean won more than once. Kim Hyo-joo had three runner-up finishes, including a loss in a five-way playoff at the season's first major, the Chevron Championship. Ranked No. 5 in Player of the Year standings, she posted the lowest scoring average among her compatriots at 69.87 per round. Choi Hye-jin, without a win, led South Koreans in earnings with over $2.15 million from nine top-10s in 24 starts.
