The State Financial Officers Foundation says it plans to provide newly released polling on public concern about government fraud to the Trump administration’s Task Force to Eliminate Fraud, which the White House says is led by Vice President J.D. Vance. The poll, conducted by Deep Root Analytics and published by The Daily Wire, found large majorities of respondents worried about misuse of taxpayer money and supportive of tougher oversight.
The State Financial Officers Foundation (SFOF), a group that says it represents state treasurers, auditors and comptrollers in 28 states, plans to share new polling results with the leadership of the Trump administration’s Task Force to Eliminate Fraud, according to The Daily Wire.
The White House has said the task force was created by executive order and is led by Vice President J.D. Vance, with a focus on coordinating government-wide efforts to combat fraud, waste and abuse in federal benefit programs.
The poll cited by The Daily Wire was conducted by Deep Root Analytics and, according to the outlet, shows broad concern about fraud or misuse of taxpayer dollars. The Daily Wire reported that 87% of voters said they were concerned about fraud or misuse of taxpayer money, including 50% who said they were “very concerned.”
The Daily Wire also reported that 83% of respondents said fraud contributes to higher taxes and rising costs for families, while 52% said little fraud is being stopped. The survey findings further showed 53% saying government policy, spending or taxation is the main driver of rising costs, and 70% saying there is too little oversight and supporting more aggressive investigations.
SFOF CEO OJ Oleka told The Daily Wire that the organization views fraud as an “invisible tax” that worsens affordability pressures, and said the group supports Vance’s leadership of the task force.
SFOF has also pointed to a separate SFOF oversight report stating that its network of state financial officers helped “protect” more than $28 billion in state funds over a year through efforts involving oversight of waste, fraud, abuse and financial mismanagement. The Daily Wire said SFOF previously shared that report with Vance in a letter in late February.
The administration’s broader anti-fraud push has drawn national attention in recent weeks, including coverage of the task force’s early meetings and related federal enforcement initiatives.
